Remember in An Officer And A Gentleman when Richard Gere and the other OCS candidates gathered in a hangar to see their own Drill Instructor-Lou Gossett, Jr., dressed up like Carl Douglas in a “Kung Fu Fighting” video- was going to teach them all self-defense. “Just wait until you get shot down behind enemy lines somewhere and the only thing between you and the POW camp is what you learn from ME!” were his words.
Well, in reality if you get shot down in Afghanistan, or Libya, or even China itself for that matter and the enemy catches you, learning Kung Fu isn’t going to do you a world of good, but there are techniques that you will learn that will help you to ensure your survival if you are shot down.
That’s what our next Afterburner Club call will be about. Monday, April 25th, I will share some tips on how to survive and evade capture if you are shot down.
