Following up on our series on why we want to be fighter pilots, it hardly even needs to go any further. Chances are if you are reading this, you’ve already caught the flying bug. You’re ready to climb into the cockpit right now as soon as someone gives you an opportunity!
But here’s the thing, no one is going to give you the opportunity.
The first reality on the road to becoming and being a fighter pilot is an understanding of what it means to live in the “Land of Opportunity” that is America.
Living in a free country like this means that you have the freedom to choose what you want to do with your life. You are not pigeonholed in any one thing. Your father can’t force you to go into the family business and the government certainly can’t force you to take a certain kind of job because they think that’s what you should be doing. That’s called oppression, and it’s what our ancestors in the Revolutionary War died to break away from and what our Founding Fathers implemented in the Nation’s constitution to ensure that we would never have to live like that again.
But it works both ways; not being pigeonholed also means not being entitled either. You are not entitled to the rank of a military officer or a jet fighter slot! You have to do the work.
And being a fighter pilot is work. Yes, it is an awesome job and you have an awesome view, but you will have a job to do. You’re going to have a lot of responsibility and if put in potentially hostile airspace, there is even a chance that someone will try to take a shot at you!
Of course, you already knew that last part before reading this, and the chances are pretty good that if you’re serious about becoming and being a fighter pilot, you already have a very strong and deep sense of responsibility and duty. In other words, you already have character.
As I have often said in the past, character is something that you can and already should be showing every day of your life regardless of what you are doing right now. The trick from here is convincing those who would give you the shot at a jet slot that you have that character. You will have to prove it to them though.
That’s where we can help you. Because you live in the Land of Opportunity, you have greater access to the tools of becoming a fighter pilot well in advance of submitting your package that ever before. By implementing what we offer (not just information on what each service and commissioning program offers, but also what to expect in boot camp and even inside information on the systems, components, and flight manuals on your favorite fighter aircraft…or even more than one type of aircraft if you choose), you will have the edge to blow away your competition in boot camp and flight school!! Period!
