We all experience some sort of defeat at some level in our lives. Of course, if you’re reading this, then you’re the type of person that I don’t even have to tell that the appropriate response to defeat is to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and try again.
But I want to take a minute here to truly analyze the word “defeat” and what it means. We can pretty much break it down to its two syllables: “de”, which is Latin for “to go away from”, and “feat”, meaning “accomplishment.” So to be defeated means that you were essentially knocked away somehow from what you wanted to accomplish.
That happens to absolutely EVERYBODY, but the ones who truly get “defeated” by our modern understanding of the word are the ones who don’t get up, brush themselves off and try again.
Most people who don’t achieve their goals in life think of it as someone else beating them to their goal, but the truth is they ALLOWED themselves to be knocked to the side without getting up. They LET themselves get beaten. The other person’s victory was just a side effect of their own failure, they made it too easy for their opponent.
People who make it into the cockpit of a modern jet fighter plane don’t make easy for their opponent, not in getting into that cockpit, and DEFINITELY not in aerial combat!
This is why Afterburner Club members have such a HUGE advantage over their peers who are pursuing commissioning programs and pilot slots. They have taken the system that we teach here and have seen tremendous results from it. The guys you see in our testimonials section on this site have overcome tremendous obstacles that be regular accounts should have ‘defeated’ them, and yet they are well on their way to jet slots. (Some of them have achieved it since we made those videos. And the others aren’t far behind!)
