You can pretty much see for yourself is you’re keeping up with the news that there are still plenty of tensions in the world and the military is going to need people like YOU to step up to the plate and become the fresh, sharp and dedicated personnel our nation needs.
Staying sharp also means keeping up on procedures that can literally save you (and possibly others) in a critical situation.
One of these is the Out-of-Control procedure. During my days flying the F-18 Hornet, this procedure was embedded in my brain after careful study and practice of it. Every month or so, we were quizzed on this procedure. A pilot would be picked at random to recall this procedure and dish it out verbally from route memory that quickly without looking down at his checklist. If that pilot even PAUSED during the description of the procedure, then he probably wouldn’t go flying that day.
I’m sure it’s not hard for you to guess why something like an out-of-control procedure has to be memorized so well. All you have to do is think of Maverick and Goose in the scene in Top Gun when they’re in a flat spin and heading out to sea. (Never mind that they were doing their mock engagement in the middle of the desert in Nevada somewhere. They had to be at least 200 miles inland from the Pacific! I never quite figured that one out.) Maverick basically panics, moving the controls from side to side frantically, and screams for Goose to bail them out. “Eject Goose! Eject! Eject! Eject!” Goose wound up having to save his life by bailing him out only to get himself killed in the process. You’re welcome, Mave! Maybe if you’d bothered to memorize your out-of-control procedures, he’d still be alive.
Here on the Afterburner Club, we actually TEACH YOU AHEAD OF TIME about these kinds of emergency procedures, as well as other procedures in your favorite types of aircraft that are admittedly routine, but will give you a MAJOR ADVANTAGE when you go up to the selection board and off to flight school.
You’ll also hear some stories about learning tactics and dogfighting. This kind of information will give you an inside edge that will allow you to smoke your competition on the way to the cockpit of the jet of your choice. And you WILL NOT FIND IT ANYWHERE ELSE!!
Want to find out the procedures of your favorite fighter plane? You ready to learn just how easy it really is to learn a life-saving procedure and have it forever committed to route memory?
